St. John Ambulance offers the following courses at locations in
  • St. Catharines (219 Church Street, St. Catharines) and
  • Welland (77 Division Street, Welland -- located in Holy Trinity Anglican Church - Guild Hall).

Private classes are also available for groups of 10 people or more -- location to be determined at the time of
booking.  

Emergency First Aid
(includes CPR and Automated External Defibrillators - AEDs).  This one-day course is for anyone who wants to know
the basics in First Aid.  It is suitable for general interest, office staff, and companies with fewer than six employees.  
Course Topics include: safe use of AED, Emergency Scene Management, Shock, Choking and Severe Bleeding.  
Level A focuses on Adult treatment.  Level C focuses on treating Infants/Children and Adults.  


Standard First Aid
is a two-day course designed to meet industry, business and government requirements.  Standard Level First Aid is
for those who want to learn additional first aid skills.  Course Topics include: safe use of AED, Emergency Scene
Management, Shock, Choking, Severe Bleeding, Wound Care, Burns, Poisons, and much more.  This course also
can be offered as  a Level A (adult) or Level C (infant/child/adult).   


Standard First Aid
Health Care Provider (HCP)
In addition to Standard First Aid, CPR and AED training, this course includes bag mask resuscitation techniques.  
The HCP program is a recognized prerequisite for many health care post-secondary education programs and
emergency service careers.  Two-day course.  


Pet First Aid
This course is designed to give pet lovers the skills required to provide first aid to an injured pet.  The program
covers a variety of topics including: injury prevention, choking, CPR, bleeding, fractures and more!


Babysitting Safety
is an award winning course that teaches the skills necessary to care for infants, toddlers and preschoolers.  It
emphasises safety, dealing with emergencies, and First Aid basics.


Recertification
classes are available for Emergency, Standard and Health Care Provider First Aid.


Marine Basic (2 day) and/or Advanced Marine (40 hour)
whether you're a weekend sailor or are employed on one of the large cargo ships in the area, St. John Ambulance
offers training that is approved by the Ministry of Transport.  Call for information about class schedules -- there are
some restrictions in availability.


Medical First Responder
for anyone interested in advancing their careers with the emergency medical services (fire, ambulance, police, armed
services), health care or work in remote locations.  Also ideal for remote work locations (forestry, mining).

St. John Ambulance does not receive
government funding for any of its Community
Service programs.

Training of volunteers, purchase and
maintenance of their equipment (including
ambulances) is dependent upon donations,
grants and/or funding from the proceeds of
the First Aid courses and First Aid products.
